Denpasar — Puskesmas III Dinas Kesehatan Kecamatan Denpasar Barat, developed as a mother-and-child-friendly community health centre, is scheduled for formal inauguration on Oct. 6, 2026. Its services began operating on Oct. 1, including 24-hour childbirth services and care for participants in Indonesia’s national health insurance program.

The change comes as Denpasar expands a facility designed to improve access to maternal and child health services. The centre was built on the former site of the Gunung Agung temporary waste collection point and former flea market, according to reports, and is expected to serve as a model for mother-and-child-friendly health centres in the city.

Why the Denpasar centre matters to residents and visitors

For foreign residents and visitors in West Denpasar, the practical significance is that the facility is already providing health services before its formal ceremony. Reports identify childbirth care as a 24-hour service and say the centre has worked with BPJS Kesehatan, Indonesia’s national health insurance administrator, so eligible participants can receive services there.

The facility is the UPTD Puskesmas III of the Denpasar Barat District Health Office. Anak Agung Ayu Chandrawati, head of the Denpasar Health Office, confirmed that operations had begun on Oct. 1 even though the inauguration was planned for Oct. 6. The ceremony is expected to involve Indonesia’s deputy health minister, while Denpasar Mayor Jaya Negara has described the centre as a possible city model for mother-and-child-friendly primary care.

The centre also provides general health services and Damakesmas, an emergency community health service, around the clock. The reports do not state a separate access rule for foreigners; they identify BPJS coverage for participants and describe the facility’s services as operating from Oct. 1.

The formal inauguration is scheduled for Oct. 6, 2026, in Denpasar Barat.
