Denpasar — The central government will fund the revitalisation of 401 schools across Bali in 2026, with a total allocation of Rp272.66 billion (about US$17.2 million), including 26 schools in Denpasar, according to reports published Oct. 2 and Oct. 3.

The programme marks a substantial increase from 2025, when 188 education units in Bali received revitalisation support backed by Rp156.961 billion (about US$9.9 million). Education Minister Abdul Mu’ti said the expanded programme is part of efforts to improve school facilities across regions. The ministry’s account said the work also supports local employment.

Why Bali’s school programme matters to residents and visitors

For foreign residents with children in Bali, the allocation concerns public schools at several education levels rather than a new immigration or residency rule. The reported figures cover the province-wide programme; Denpasar’s share is 26 schools, with a separate allocation of Rp18.891 billion (about US$1.2 million).

The reports describe the work as covering school revitalisation, with projects determined by conditions and needs at individual institutions. A report on SD Negeri 15 Dangin Puri said the school received about Rp478 million (about US$30,000) for four classrooms, yard improvements and repairs to bathroom facilities. The programme therefore concerns practical changes to public education infrastructure, including learning spaces and supporting facilities.

The central government’s stated comparison with 2025 places the 2026 allocation in a broader expansion of education investment in Bali. The official ministry account said revitalisation is intended to improve the quality of educational facilities in different regions, while the reported employment figures indicate an additional local economic effect.
