Nusa Dua — Bali police have deployed 215 personnel to secure the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers’ 87th Annual General Meeting, or ICANN87, at the Bali International Convention Centre from Oct. 17 to 22, 2026.
The operation covers the arrival of delegates at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, their routes to the Indonesia Tourism Development Corporation tourism area in Nusa Dua and traffic points near busy public fuel stations. Police said the deployment involves personnel from the Bali Regional Police, Denpasar City Police and I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport Police.
ICANN87 is expected to draw 2,000 to 2,500 delegates from about 180 countries, according to Bali police. The meeting’s official schedule identifies the Bali International Convention Centre as the venue and confirms the Oct. 17–22 dates.
Why the security operation matters to visitors in Nusa Dua
For foreign visitors and residents, the measures mean that travel between the airport and Nusa Dua may involve visible police deployments, patrols and checks of people and belongings while the meeting is underway. Traffic monitoring is also intended to prevent delegate movements from disrupting local activity, particularly near fuel stations where queues can form.
Police are using a three-ring security system covering open guarding, regular patrols and closer checks around strategic locations. Officers assigned to the operation are required to wear body-worn cameras, according to the police account.
The security operation began with a troop assembly at Bali Regional Police headquarters on Friday, Oct. 16, 2026. The operation is named Gapura Agung V-2026 and is designed to support the international meeting while maintaining public traffic and safety around the airport, access roads and convention area.
