Bali — Bank BPD Bali has warned customers about fake prize-draw scams that misuse the bank’s branding and direct people to unverified links, social-media accounts and WhatsApp messages. The bank says customers should confirm any promotion through official channels and never share confidential banking information.
In a notice posted on its website, Bank BPD Bali said it “does not” run prize draws through unofficial websites, fake social-media accounts, individual WhatsApp messages or unverified registration links. The bank said anyone who sees an account, message or website using its name and asking for debit or credit card numbers, PINs, one-time passwords or CVV codes should treat it as fraud.
The warning is part of the bank’s financial-literacy campaign, RAMBU, which it describes as “RAbu Melindungi, Benteng Utama.” The bank said the campaign’s ninth episode focuses on fraudulent prize-draw schemes circulated through digital platforms.
How the scam is described
Bank BPD Bali said the scams can be identified by several warning signs, including advertising accounts without a blue verification mark, websites using unofficial domains such as “.xyz”, and posts or pages copying the bank’s logo. It said these indicators should prompt further verification before anyone clicks a link, registers for a prize or submits information.
The bank also said social-engineering fraud is increasingly common in digital banking, with criminals trying to persuade people to disclose information or take actions that compromise their accounts.
Customers are being told to verify claims through officially verified channels and to contact the bank’s call centre at 1500844 if they need confirmation. The bank said it does not conduct prize draws through unofficial websites, fake social-media accounts, personal WhatsApp messages or unverified online forms.
What customers are told to protect
Bank BPD Bali said messages or websites claiming to represent the bank should be treated as fraudulent if they ask for personal or confidential banking data. It listed card numbers, PINs, one-time passwords and CVV codes among the details customers should never provide in response to an unsolicited message or link.
The bank said the safest response is to stop the interaction and independently verify the information through official channels rather than through contact details supplied in the message itself. It also warned that a legitimate-looking logo does not prove a message came from the bank.
The notice was published on the bank’s website on 30 August 2026 and is titled Waspada Modus “Gebyar Undian Gadungan”!. A separate police cyber-information page also flagged the same scam theme as a hoax and said the claimed Bank BPD Bali prize-draw link was false, matching the bank’s own warning.
Bank BPD Bali’s notice did not say how many customers may have been targeted or whether any losses had been reported.
