Labuan Bajo — Perum Bulog’s Bima branch said it held about 17,000 tonnes of rice in stock on Thursday, 3 September 2026, and estimated the supply could last around 13 months at current average food-aid distribution levels.

Branch head Alfan Ghazali said the calculation was based on average monthly food-aid deliveries of about 1,300 tonnes, according to Kahaba. Dividing the reported stock by that pace gives a little more than 13 months of coverage.

The same report said the rice reserve would be sufficient until around the 2027 planting season. It did not provide a breakdown of warehouse locations, beneficiary numbers, or whether the calculation included later transfers or replenishment.

Kahaba also reported that Bulog Bima recorded large movements of paddy and maize from the Bima, Dompu and Kota Bima areas. The figures were presented as procurement and distribution data for the branch’s operating area.

According to the report, paddy procurement reached 37,345,823 kilograms, with Dompu Regency contributing 32,054,628 kilograms, Bima Regency 5,032,276 kilograms and Kota Bima 258,919 kilograms. Maize procurement was listed at 36,757,400 kilograms, including 17,926,390 kilograms from Dompu, 13,395,850 kilograms from Bima and 5,435,160 kilograms from Kota Bima.

The report also said Bulog Bima had transferred 4,350 tonnes of rice to East Nusa Tenggara to help meet food-aid and price-stabilisation needs, while maize shipments were sent to Central Java, East Java and Bali. Those maize deliveries were listed at 10,595,270 kilograms, 16,600,058 kilograms and 620,970 kilograms respectively.

Separately, the report said rice assistance from Bulog Bima had also moved to NTT in August, including supplies drawn from provincial and police channels. The article stated that such outflows did not disrupt local food security in Bima and Dompu.

Using the branch’s own figures, the 13-month estimate is a straightforward stock-to-distribution calculation. It is an estimate, not a guarantee, and would change if monthly deliveries, transfers or procurement levels shift.

Context

Bulog is Indonesia’s state logistics agency and manages government rice reserves used for food assistance and market stabilisation. In recent national reporting, Bulog has said its overall rice stocks remained strong in September 2026.

For Bima, the key takeaway is that the branch reported a large rice reserve and a corresponding monthly distribution pace that supports its 13-month projection. The reported stock level was framed by the branch as enough to carry supplies into the next planting cycle.
