West Nusa Tenggara’s tourism demand is seasonal rather than uniform: official statistics distinguish international and domestic visitors, and measure hotel occupancy separately for star-rated and non-star accommodation. In September 2025, star-rated hotels recorded 45.67 percent occupancy and non-star hotels 33.86 percent, according to BPS, 2025.
How full were hotels in West Nusa Tenggara?
The September 2025 room occupancy rate was 45.67 percent for star-rated hotels and 33.86 percent for non-star hotels, according to the Statistics of West Nusa Tenggara Province, or BPS NTB, 2025.
Those figures describe rooms occupied during the month, not the number of visitors or the share of all accommodation in Lombok, Sumbawa and the wider province.
How many guests stayed in star-rated hotels?
Star-rated hotels recorded 121,227 guests in September 2025, according to BPS NTB, 2025. The total included 71,674 domestic guests and 49,553 international guests.
The average length of stay in star-rated hotels was 1.95 days, according to BPS NTB, 2025. This is a provincial figure and does not separate Lombok from Sumbawa or other parts of West Nusa Tenggara.
How many guests used non-star hotels?
Non-star hotels recorded 136,385 guests in September 2025, according to BPS NTB, 2025. The total included 58,300 domestic guests and 78,085 international guests.
The average length of stay in non-star hotels was 1.58 days, according to BPS NTB, 2025. BPS reported the occupancy and guest counts as separate measures.
What do the figures show about the market?
The two accommodation categories had different guest profiles in September 2025. Domestic guests made up 59.12 percent of star-rated hotel guests, while international guests made up 57.25 percent of non-star hotel guests, according to BPS NTB, 2025.
Airport traffic provides a separate indicator: BIZAM recorded 9,333 international visitors and 1,269,281 domestic tourists in September 2025, according to BPS NTB, 2025. These airport figures are not the same as hotel guest totals because they count arrivals through the airport rather than stays in surveyed hotels.
