Badung — Online property platforms were carrying listings for hundreds of hotels and villas across Bali on September 27, 2026, with asking prices reaching tens of billions of rupiah, according to Detik Bali.

Why it matters: Hotel and villa owners, investors and tourism businesses are affected by a reported wave of online sale listings, while officials verify the properties and their business circumstances.

The listings covered Badung, Tabanan, Gianyar and Karangasem. Reports identified offers on property marketplaces including Lamudi and OLX, but the listings represent asking offers rather than evidence that transactions had been completed.

Indonesia’s Tourism Ministry said a hotel being offered for sale does not automatically mean the property is bankrupt. The ministry attributed possible sales to business considerations including changes in ownership, investment decisions and adjustments to operations, according to Detik’s report published on September 26.

Bali Governor Wayan Koster assigned the Bali Tourism Office to coordinate with the Badung Tourism Office and licensing authorities to verify information about hotels being offered for sale, according to Detik’s September 27 report.

Separately, Bali’s hotel and restaurant association said possible explanations could include low occupancy, shareholder decisions, owners seeking to assess property values and difficulties operating hotels. Those comments did not establish that all listed properties shared the same financial circumstances.

What the reports establish

  • The listings span four Bali regencies: Badung, Tabanan, Gianyar and Karangasem.
  • Asking prices vary and reach tens of billions of rupiah.
  • Officials are seeking to verify the properties and the reasons behind the listings.
