Denpasar — Bali launched 11 electric buses donated by the South Korean government at the eastern field of the Bajra Sandhi Monument on Oct. 22, 2026, as the province accelerates a shift toward cleaner public transport.
The buses were provided to Indonesia for Bali under the Bali E-Mobility project, with charging stations supplied as part of the same initiative. The launch marked the formal presentation of the fleet and its supporting infrastructure, rather than the start of regular passenger service.
Why It Matters for Bali’s Transport Network
For residents and visitors, the project adds electric vehicles to Bali’s public-transport system while the provincial government works to reduce emissions and protect air quality. The buses are intended for the Trans Sarbagita network, whose first corridor connects GOR Ngurah Rai, Universitas Udayana and Garuda Wisnu Kencana.
Earlier planning identified charging facilities at GOR Ngurah Rai and the Bali Transportation Agency office. The fleet is expected to operate as provincial government assets under the Trans Sarbagita service. Details of the passenger fare during the initial operating period had not been settled in the reports.
The project received support from the Government of South Korea through cooperation involving the Global Green Growth Institute. Bali’s governor, I Wayan Koster, said the buses and charging facilities would strengthen a lower-emission transport ecosystem.
Regular public operation was planned for early November 2026, after the Oct. 22 ceremony. The reports did not establish a final fare or provide a later operating timetable.
