Kapal ceremony to close Denpasar–Gilimanuk route for two hours on 26 September

Desa Adat Kapal — Badung authorities and police will close Jalan Raya Kapal on Saturday, 26 September 2026, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. during the Siat Tipat Bantal ceremony in Desa Adat Kapal.

Why it matters: The closure temporarily changes travel on the Denpasar–Gilimanuk route and affects large trucks and buses using Jalan Raya Kapal from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on 26 September.

The closure affects the main Denpasar–Gilimanuk route near Pura Desa lan Puseh Desa Adat Kapal. The ceremony is also known as Aci Tabuh Rah Pengangon and is held on the Purnama Sasih Kapat full moon observance, according to NusaBali.

Traffic diversions will operate while the ritual is under way. Vehicles travelling from Denpasar towards Gilimanuk will be directed west towards the Tambak Sari–Soka junction and then north towards Celuk, according to Badung Transportation Agency official Rahmadi, as reported by detikBali.

Vehicles arriving from Gilimanuk will first be directed into Mengwi Terminal. Traffic heading south on Jalan Raya Kapal will be closed, with an alternative route through Cepaka junction and Lukluk. Vehicles can then continue towards Denpasar via Anggungan and Lukluk.

Large trucks and buses will face additional controls. Those travelling from Denpasar towards Tabanan will be held at the Cargo Terminal and the Badung government centre area, while vehicles travelling in the opposite direction will be directed to Mengwi Type A Terminal until the ceremony ends, NusaBali reported.

Badung authorities have urged road users to follow officers’ directions and use the designated alternatives during the ceremony. The temporary arrangement is intended to manage traffic on the route while the road is used for the ritual.

• Jalan Raya Kapal will be closed from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
• Traffic will be diverted in both directions around Kapal.
• Large trucks and buses will be held at designated temporary parking areas.
