Ngurah Rai Immigration stops foreign national with cocaine and two passports

Badung — Ngurah Rai Immigration stopped JFD, a foreign national, from departing Bali on September 24, 2026, after officers found suspected cocaine concealed in a passport at the airport.

JFD was preparing to fly to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on an AirAsia flight when an immigration autogate failed to process the departure, according to The Bali Times. A subsequent document inspection found the substance inside the passport, while Customs and Excise officers confirmed it as 0.2 grams of cocaine, according to reports by Pantau and The Bali Times.

Immigration records showed that JFD entered Indonesia on September 19 using an Irish passport and a Visa on Arrival. During the attempted departure, JFD presented a South African passport, prompting officials to identify the use of passports associated with two nationalities.

Customs officers also conducted a urine test that returned positive for cocaine use, according to the reports. Immigration and Customs then handed JFD and the evidence to police at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport for further investigation.
