Denpasar — Chilli prices in Bali rose after supplies from farmers became limited. The increase was reported in one day.
The price increase came as Bank Indonesia said market operations can help ease short-term inflation pressure.
Why the price matters to Bali residents and visitors
For foreign residents, the increase affects the cost of food bought in markets, restaurants and other businesses that use fresh chilli. The reported figure concerns chilli prices in the market and does not establish that every seller or every part of Bali is charging the same amount.
Bank Indonesia, Indonesia’s central bank, said market operations are a short-term measure for reducing inflation pressure. The latest increase was attributed to limited supply from farmers. A Bali provincial government price-monitoring page separately recorded red bird’s-eye chilli on Sept. 23, showing that recorded prices can differ by market, date and monitoring method.
The item does not state a further timetable for market operations or indicate how long the higher price will last. The reported figures therefore describe different observations rather than a single price for all markets in Bali.
