Amlapura — Karangasem Festival 2026 generated reported transactions of approximately Rp1.445 billion over four days, according to statements from Regent I Gusti Putu Parwata and coverage in regional media following the event.
The festival ran from 19–22 June 2026 at Taman Candra Bhuana in Karangasem and was held in conjunction with the 386th anniversary of Amlapura.
Local outlets reported that the turnover figure was presented by the regent as an indicator that the festival was supporting the local economy while showcasing Karangasem’s culture and creative industries.
Breakdown of reported transactions
According to reporting based on the festival committee’s data, the Rp1.445 billion total combined transactions recorded by micro, small and medium enterprises and culinary vendors operating within the official festival area.
- UMKM: 32 businesses were reported to have recorded transactions of around Rp358 million across the four days.
- Culinary businesses: 85 food and beverage vendors were reported to have recorded transactions of about Rp1.087 billion.
- Reported total: The combined turnover over the festival period was put at roughly Rp1.445 billion.
Coverage of the regent’s remarks indicated that these two categories were the basis for the headline number and were treated as separate segments of the festival’s official marketplace.
Some reports also highlighted that the figure marked an increase on the previous year’s festival turnover, which had been reported at around Rp884 million.
Economic aims and messaging
In his address at the festival closing, the regent said the administration saw cultural and tourism events as a way to strengthen local UMKM, the creative economy and culture-based tourism, and he linked the festival’s economic activity to efforts to improve livelihoods in Karangasem.
The festival carried the theme “Tidak Mudah, Tapi Harus Bisa”, which the regent and other officials described as reflecting the district’s determination to face development challenges through cooperation, hard work, innovation and community solidarity.
Regional outlets quoted Bali Deputy Governor I Nyoman Giri Prasta, who attended the closing ceremony, as welcoming the reported turnover and emphasising that cultural events can create tangible economic benefits for local businesses.
What the figures do and do not show
The Rp1.445 billion figure represents a turnover estimate based on recorded transactions at festival stands, not a measure of profit, household income or tax revenue.
Available reporting does not provide a detailed breakdown by individual business, sector beyond UMKM and culinary vendors, or type of customer, and it does not specify the accounting method used to compile the total.
Media accounts also do not yet indicate how much of the spending came from local residents, domestic visitors or international tourists, nor do they detail whether vendors secured repeat orders or longer-term commercial partnerships as a result of their participation.
Officials have framed the festival as both a cultural showcase and a tool for local economic development, but the sustainability and distribution of the reported benefits across different sectors of Karangasem’s economy have not been quantified in the public data released so far.
