Klungkung Opens 2026 Arts Workshop at Pemedal Agung

Klungkung — The Klungkung Culture Office opened its 2026 workshop and performance programme at the Pemedal Agung forecourt on Monday, 31 August, with the regent and deputy regent attending the launch, according to the Klungkung regency government and local radio broadcaster RRI.

The programme was designed to build the capacity, creativity and professionalism of students and artists while encouraging new works that remain rooted in Balinese culture, the sources said.

Three art forms

This year’s workshop focused on Sketsa Wayang Kamasan, Seni Tari Ekspresi and Seni Musik Ritme, or Kamasan wayang sketching, expressive dance and rhythm-based music.

Students from SMP Negeri 1 Semarapura, SMA Negeri 1 Semarapura and SMK Negeri 1 Klungkung took part, according to the reports.

Klungkung Regent I Made Satria said the local government would continue to facilitate, protect and develop the creative ecosystem in the regency. Deputy Regent Tjokorda Gde Surya Putra also attended the opening, according to the regency government report.

Head of the Klungkung Culture Office I Wayan Suteja said art was not only entertainment but also a reflection of identity and a medium for moral messages. He urged participants to keep experimenting, exchanging ideas and collaborating across arts groups.

The event was held at the Pemedal Agung forecourt in Klungkung, and the reports describe it as a joint workshop and performance programme for young people and local cultural practitioners.
