Mangupura — Badung Regent I Wayan Adi Arnawa officially opened the 2026 National Pesona Bonsai and Suiseki Contest and Exhibition at the Giri Nata Mandala Cultural Hall in the Badung Regency Government Centre on Wednesday, Oct. 21.
The event combines environmental conservation, artistic development and the strengthening of Badung’s tourism appeal. Organizers said the national-scale exhibition brought together at least 850 participants from regions across Indonesia.
Why the exhibition matters to Badung tourism
For visitors, the exhibition presents bonsai and suiseki as more than ornamental arts. Badung officials described the event as an environmental education platform and a potential creative-economy driver, while organizers linked out-of-area participation to local tourism activity.
The participation of collectors and enthusiasts from outside Badung is expected to support hotel occupancy and increase activity among micro, small and medium enterprises in the regency. The exhibition also provides a setting for appreciation, education and knowledge exchange among bonsai and suiseki enthusiasts.
The event’s theme, “Art of Nature and Tradition,” places the exhibition within Badung’s broader effort to promote tourism grounded in art, culture and environmental awareness. The official Badung Regency account also identified the exhibition as an event combining conservation, art and regional tourism promotion.
