Badung waste collection continues during Bali fuel shortages

Mangupura — Badung’s Environment and Sanitation Agency said on October 18, 2026, that the regency’s waste-collection vehicles were operating normally despite fuel shortages and long queues at petrol stations.

Why it matters: Waste collection in Badung remained scheduled despite fuel queues, while visitors and residents faced difficult access to some petrol stations and purchase limits on selected fuels.

Agency head Made Rai Warastuthi said the fleet remained covered by sufficient supplies of Pertamina Dex, a diesel fuel, while queues at stations were affecting traffic around Bali. The agency said its vehicles could continue collecting waste according to their operating schedule.

The Bali Post reported that the agency transported about 4 tonnes of waste in two trucks from the Seminyak Beach area in Kuta on Sunday. The report attributed the continued service to the fleet’s use of Pertamina Dex.

Separate reporting by 7NEWS said motorists in Denpasar and southern Badung were facing lengthy queues as Pertalite and, at some stations, Pertamax became difficult to find. Bali authorities were working with Pertamina and distributors to restore supplies, the report said.

The fuel disruption was also reported by Tempo, which said Pertamina Patra Niaga limited purchases of Pertalite during an odd-even vehicle-plate system over the weekend. Cars were limited to 20 litres and motorcycles to 3 litres per purchase, while 66 petrol stations in Denpasar and Badung were operating around the clock.
