Bali authorities renew visitor warning after indecency and deportation cases

Denpasar — Bali police and immigration authorities have urged visitors to respect Indonesian law and local customs after a series of alleged indecency and explicit-content cases in Badung in late August, including the arrest of an Australian man and the deportation of a French adult-content creator.

According to Bali Regional Police spokesperson Sr. Comr. Ariasandy, a 27-year-old Australian identified by the initials BA was detained by Badung Police at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport after investigators traced him from viral footage showing an indecent act outside a residence in Tibubeneng, North Kuta. Ariasandy said officers identified BA from the video and then arrested him at the airport before he could leave Indonesia.

Police statements reported by RRI and other outlets say BA allegedly engaged in sexual activity in an alley outside a local home on Jalan Pantai Berawa, Gang Family, Tibubeneng, Badung. He has been named a suspect and remains under investigation at Badung Police Headquarters. Ariasandy said BA has been accused under Article 406 and/or Article 407 of Law No. 1/2023 on the Criminal Code, provisions that cover public indecency offences.

In the same period, police in Badung reported a separate case involving a viral video recorded on CCTV at a residence on Jalan Pantai Batu Bolong in Canggu, North Kuta. Investigators said the footage shows an alleged indecent act involving a foreign man and two Indonesian women in the entrance area of a local home in the early hours of 20 August. Badung Police investigators told local media they are still working to identify the three individuals and have not yet confirmed their identities.

Immigration deports French content creator

Separately, Denpasar Immigration Office deported a 30-year-old French national identified as LR after a video featuring him surfaced on an adult website. The man, described by officials as an adult-content creator, was removed to Paris through I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport on 27 August 2026 following an immigration investigation.

Denpasar Immigration officials quoted in local and national reports said LR entered Indonesia via Bali on 20 July 2026 using a visitor visa through an automated immigration service. The deportation followed public reports and digital tracing of his travel and online activity. Immigration intelligence and enforcement officers questioned LR on his travel documents and his activities in Bali, and alleged that he created and promoted sexually explicit material through an online subscription platform identified by the initials OF.

Officials said the French national was subject to immigration administrative measures for allegedly producing and promoting explicit content in Indonesia, but detailed information on any additional sanctions, such as a re-entry ban, has not been publicly disclosed.

Public warnings and ongoing probes

Following BA’s arrest, Bali police reiterated that the province would not tolerate behaviour that disturbs public order and called on tourists to observe local norms. Ariasandy urged domestic and international visitors to respect the laws, customs and traditions in Bali when visiting or staying on the island.

Badung Police have also emphasised that their investigations into the Batu Bolong incident in Canggu and the alleged indecent act in Tibubeneng are ongoing. Officers said they are still trying to identify and locate the foreign man and two Indonesian women reportedly involved in the Batu Bolong case. In the Tibubeneng case, police stated that BA has been secured, while the woman allegedly involved is still being sought.

Authorities and local media reports indicate at least three separate indecency or explicit-content cases were under scrutiny in Badung during the second half of August: the Batu Bolong incident in Canggu on 20 August, the alleged indecent act in Berawa, Tibubeneng around 21–22 August, and the immigration case involving LR leading to his deportation on 27–28 August.

Police and immigration officials have used these cases to remind visitors that sexual or indecent conduct in public or residential areas can lead to criminal charges or immigration sanctions, and that foreign nationals are expected to comply with Indonesian law, respect local customs and follow visa conditions while in Bali.
