Denpasar — Bali’s direct foreign visitor arrivals rose slightly in July 2026, reaching 697,809, according to the provincial statistics office. The figure was up 0.10% year on year and 15.34% from June, marking only the second monthly increase versus 2025 since the start of the year.
Australia remained Bali’s largest source market in July with 174,539 arrivals, or 25.01% of the total, followed by China with 59,029, according to the same statistics release. India, France and the United Kingdom completed the top five markets.
The statistics office said the July gain came at the start of Bali’s high and peak travel season. It said arrivals in February and July were the only months in the first seven months of 2026 to post year-on-year growth.
Hotel occupancy also improved
Bali’s star-rated hotel occupancy rate rose to 67.29% in July, up 2.42 percentage points from June, according to Indonesia’s statistics agency. Five-star hotels posted the highest occupancy at 74.45%, while four-star properties saw one of the strongest monthly gains.
The July hotel figures suggest demand strengthened during the same period that foreign arrivals improved. The data do not provide room-rate trends, congestion levels or booking volumes.
For the January-July period, Bali recorded 3,900,965 direct foreign visitor arrivals, down 1.98% from the same period in 2025. The provincial statistics office said the smaller year-to-date decline reflected some recovery in monthly performance, but the island remained below last year’s level overall.
Seasonal outlook
The office said August and September are usually Bali’s busiest months before arrivals ease later in the year. That pattern places the island in its strongest demand period even as the cumulative total remains in negative territory.
Officials will be watching whether the late-year travel season can offset the first-half slowdown. The July rebound shows the market stabilising, but not yet fully reversing the year’s earlier weakness.
