Foreign visitors travelling in Bali must pay a one-off tourist levy of IDR 150,000 per person. The charge has applied since February 14, 2024, and is paid electronically before or during a Bali trip; it remains valid while the visitor travels in Bali and before leaving Indonesia, according to Bali’s official Love Bali system and provincial regulations.

Who must pay the Bali tourist levy?

The levy applies to foreign tourists entering Bali directly from abroad or indirectly through another part of Indonesia, according to Bali Province Regulation Number 6 of 2023 and the Love Bali FAQ. It covers foreign visitors undertaking tourism activities in Bali.

Exemptions include diplomatic and official visa holders, transport crew, KITAS or KITAP holders, family-unification visa holders, student visa holders, golden-visa holders and holders of other non-tourism visas, according to the Love Bali FAQ.

How much is the levy and when did it start?

The amount is IDR 150,000 per person. Bali’s official levy poster says the policy became effective on February 14, 2024, while Bali Province Regulation Number 6 of 2023 states that the levy is paid electronically and applies during the visitor’s stay in Bali.

The current provincial regulation also sets the charge at Rp150,000 and requires payment before or during travel in Bali, according to Bali Province Regulation Number 2 of 2025.

How can visitors pay?

Payment is cashless through the official Love Bali system. The Love Bali FAQ lists cards, bank transfer, virtual account, UnionPay and QRIS among the available electronic payment facilities.

Visitors can pay through the Love Bali website before entering Bali, at payment counters available at Bali’s airport and ports, or during their trip through registered endpoints such as hotels, travel agents and tourist attractions, according to the provincial system’s FAQ.

What proof of payment do travellers receive?

After payment, international tourists receive a levy voucher with a QR code sent to the email address entered in the Love Bali system. The voucher serves as the electronic proof of payment, according to the Love Bali FAQ.

Do exempt visitors need to apply for an exemption?

Love Bali’s terms say holders of golden visas and other non-tourism visas must submit an exemption application through the system at least 5 days before entering Bali’s arrival gates. If the application is submitted less than 5 days before arrival, the terms state that the visitor is subject to the levy.
