Jakarta — The Directorate General of Immigration reported 17,597 administrative immigration actions in Indonesia from January through September 2026, including 5,310 deportations and 3,022 detentions, in figures released on Oct. 17.

The actions also included 5,310 stay-permit cancellations, 3,950 proposed entry bans and five orders barring people from specific locations. The figures cover national immigration enforcement and do not identify all cases as occurring in Bali.

Why the figures matter to foreigners in Bali

For foreign residents and visitors, the figures show the range of administrative measures available to Indonesian immigration authorities. A stay-permit cancellation can end the legal basis for remaining in Indonesia, while deportation removes a foreign national from the country. A proposed entry ban can affect whether that person is allowed to return, and detention places a person in immigration custody while the case proceeds.

The Directorate General of Immigration is the Indonesian government agency responsible for immigration administration and enforcement. Its reported total covers the first nine months of 2026 and includes actions taken against foreign nationals across Indonesia. The report also describes expanded digital monitoring of foreign nationals and refugees through three applications.

The reported breakdown is 5,310 stay-permit cancellations, 5,310 deportations, 3,950 proposed entry bans, 3,022 detentions and five location-specific bans. No Bali-only total or separate Bali breakdown is provided for the 17,597 actions.
