Mataram — Hotels and other accommodation providers in West Nusa Tenggara hosted around 136,000 foreign guests in July 2026, according to data from the provincial statistics office BPS NTB, as reported by several Indonesian media outlets. The figure refers to registered hotel guests during that month, not total tourist arrivals to the province.

BPS NTB data cited by local media show that foreign guests staying in star-rated hotels in West Nusa Tenggara in July 2026 numbered about 58,775, while non-star hotels and similar accommodations hosted around 77,543 foreign guests. Combined, these categories account for roughly 136,318 foreign visitors recorded as hotel guests across the province that month.

Hotel guests, not all arrivals

According to reports based on BPS NTB’s July 2026 tourism statistics, the 136,318 figure covers foreign guests who booked rooms in both star-rated and non-star hotels and comparable lodgings in West Nusa Tenggara. It does not represent all international visitor arrivals to the province.

Separate BPS NTB data show that 9,039 foreign tourists entered West Nusa Tenggara via Lombok’s international airport in July 2026, up around 29.5 percent from June. That airport-arrivals figure is counted independently from the hotel-guest statistics.

The official statistics further indicate that hotels in the province accommodated far larger numbers of domestic guests than foreign visitors in July 2026, with more than 1.4 million domestic tourists recorded in the period. BPS NTB data also show that foreign guests stayed an average of about 2.35 nights in star-rated hotels that month, compared with 1.72 nights for domestic guests.

Distribution across accommodation types

Media reports based on BPS NTB’s release state that star-rated hotels in West Nusa Tenggara welcomed 143,079 guests in July 2026, including 84,304 domestic and 58,775 foreign visitors. Non-star hotels and other accommodations hosted 172,711 guests, consisting of 95,168 domestic and 77,543 foreign visitors.

These figures suggest that non-star hotels and similar lodgings accounted for a slightly larger share of foreign hotel guests than star-rated properties in the province in July. However, the available reports do not provide a detailed breakdown by destination within West Nusa Tenggara, such as Lombok compared with other islands, nor do they list individual hotels.

Tourism conditions in July 2026

BPS NTB’s July 2026 tourism data also highlight hotel occupancy trends in the province. According to local coverage of the statistics, the room occupancy rate for star-rated hotels reached about 51.54 percent in July, while occupancy at non-star hotels also increased compared with June. Officials cited by the media linked the improvement to rising domestic and foreign visitor numbers.

Earlier months in 2026 saw weaker tourism performance. In February, BPS NTB recorded 5,154 foreign arrivals through Lombok’s airport and noted lower hotel occupancy and guest numbers compared with January. Subsequent releases and media reports described a rebound from March through mid-year, culminating in higher foreign guest counts and occupancy rates in June and July.

Against this backdrop, the July 2026 figure of around 136,000 foreign hotel guests in West Nusa Tenggara indicates a relatively strong month for international demand in the province’s accommodation sector, based on official statistics compiled by BPS NTB and reported by multiple news outlets.
