Mangupura — Thousands of civil servants and community members joined a plastic-waste cleanup led by Badung Regent I Wayan Adi Arnawa and Deputy Regent Bagus Alit Sucipta at the Badung government center, Mangupraja Mandala, on Friday, Oct. 9, 2026.

The operation covered irrigation channels, tributaries and roadside strips around the Pusat Pemerintahan Badung. It was organized ahead of Rahina Tumpek Wayang and brought together local officials, regional legislators, schools, universities, government agencies and environmental groups.

Badung asks households and visitors to manage waste at its source

For foreign residents and visitors, the message is practical: waste management is presented as a shared responsibility rather than a task reserved for the Badung Environmental and Sanitation Agency. The regency urged people to reduce waste, sort it where it is generated, recover materials that still have value, manage residual waste and avoid littering.

The cleanup also highlighted restrictions on single-use plastic bags and bottles in government offices, alongside the practice of carrying a reusable drinking bottle. Badung officials said the government must provide rules and supporting facilities, while the results depend on changes in public behavior.

The event was part of a wider local effort to reinforce environmental cleanliness through regular Friday activities. The government’s account described the cleanup as taking place in the Badung government-center area on Oct. 9, while the reports identified the gathering as a Tumpek Wayang-related community action.
