Denpasar — Bali’s traditional calendar marks Monday, Nov. 2, 2026, as Amerta Dadi, a day considered suitable for Dewa Yadnya ceremonies and worship of ancestors.
The guidance, published by Bali Post and reported alongside other calendar coverage, also identifies activities regarded as unsuitable on the date. Those include some weddings, cremations and other ancestor-related rites, as well as house construction and work involving land. The calendar is a cultural guide rather than a blanket rule governing every activity across Bali.
Why it matters for visitors and foreign residents
For visitors and foreign residents, the practical significance is that religious observances may affect the rhythm of local communities, particularly around temples, family compounds and ceremonial spaces. A calendar entry does not by itself establish that a ceremony will occur at a specific location or that outsiders may attend.
Amerta Dadi is part of the Balinese system for assessing whether a day is favorable or unfavorable for particular activities. The system draws on traditional calendar elements including wuku, sasih, panglong and alahing dewasa. The suitability of a date therefore depends on the undertaking being considered; a day regarded as favorable for one rite may not be considered appropriate for another.
Coverage of Nov. 2 also identifies the date as Soma Ribek and as Monday in the Gregorian calendar. For ceremonies and other important decisions, the published guidance says local customary authorities remain the relevant source of judgment because spiritual and local circumstances can affect how a date is used.
