Singaraja — Construction of drainage and streetscape improvements on Jalan Diponegoro, around Pasar Anyar, had reached 27 percent when Commission II and Commission III of the Buleleng Regional House of Representatives inspected the project on Oct. 12, 2026.

The work is intended to improve water flow and reduce the risk of standing water and flooding in the market area. Lawmakers said the existing drainage system needs technical evaluation so the new channels are connected and function properly after construction.

Why it matters for Singaraja’s market district

For traders, road users and nearby residents, the project is meant to address a practical problem: water that does not drain efficiently around Pasar Anyar. The inspection also identified obstacles that could affect implementation, including vehicle parking, traders operating near the site and the condition of the old drainage channels.

The project is being carried out by CV Cadudasa Pratama under the supervision of CV Manca Geni. Its contract value is IDR 4,749,733,000 (about US$300,000). Work began on Aug. 28, 2026, and is scheduled to continue for 120 calendar days, ending on Dec. 17, 2026.

The broader arrangement of Jalan Diponegoro includes the Pasar Anyar area and is intended to benefit traders, road users and the surrounding community. Earlier plans for the area also included improvements to pedestrian facilities and parking, with completion targeted for December 2026.

Buleleng lawmakers urged the contractor, supervising consultant and relevant local agencies to coordinate more closely so technical problems do not delay completion. They also stressed that the drainage must be assessed as a connected system, rather than treated only as a surface-improvement project.

The project’s next stated milestone is completion by Dec. 17, 2026, in line with the contract. The scheduled deadline gives the contractor and supervising parties a clear date for finishing the drainage and streetscape work around the market district.
