Denpasar — Bali Governor Wayan Koster and Bali Civil Service Police monitored fuel stations across Denpasar from 22.00 WITA to 03.00 WITA on Oct. 16, as demand for fuel rose to two times normal levels or more and queues increased.
The overnight inspection covered stations in South Denpasar, East Denpasar, Renon, Teuku Umar and Puputan. Fuel was still available at several stations, but officials said the surge in motorists was causing queues to form at multiple locations at the same time and was depleting supplies more quickly at some stations.
Why the Denpasar queues matter to residents and visitors
For foreign residents and visitors, the report points to a distribution and demand problem rather than a confirmed absence of fuel across Denpasar. A station may still have fuel while facing long waits because more motorists are arriving simultaneously than under normal conditions. The locations monitored by officials include areas used by residents, workers and visitors moving through the city.
Officials urged residents not to hoard fuel. Dharmadi said Pertamina had relaxed fuel distribution and sales procedures to help reduce the queues. The report did not state a single citywide time for the situation to return to normal, and it did not say that every station had the same level of availability.
The inspection was conducted by Wayan Koster together with Bali Civil Service Police. The report described the increase in fuel demand as two times normal levels or more, while also noting that fuel remained available at some stations during the overnight monitoring.
