Pekutatan–Mengwi toll-road investor tender targeted for late 2026

Denpasar — Bali’s provincial government said on 23 September 2026 that the investor tender for the Pekutatan–Mengwi toll-road section is targeted for the end of 2026, while the project remains under central-government review.

Why it matters: The tender target sets the next step for the Pekutatan–Mengwi toll-road section, while land procurement would begin only after an investor is selected.

The statement was made by Nusakti Yasa Wedha, head of Bali’s Public Works, Spatial Planning, Housing and Settlement Areas Agency, according to Bali Post. He said the tender is expected to proceed once the central government’s review is complete.

Land procurement will take place only after an investor has been selected. Bali’s provincial government said the process will be handled by the central government through the State Asset Management Agency, known by its Indonesian acronym LMAN.

The tender target follows a change in the planned Gilimanuk–Mengwi project. On 22 September 2026, Bali Governor Wayan Koster said the Gilimanuk–Pekutatan section would become a national road, while Pekutatan–Mengwi would remain a toll road, according to Detik Bali.

Koster said physical construction was expected to begin in early 2027 if the tender process proceeds as planned. The provincial government’s 23 September statement did not establish a construction start date or an operating date.
