Mangupura — Pramuka Peduli Kwartir Daerah (Kwarda) Bali planted mangroves on Pulau Pudut in Kelurahan Tanjung Benoa, Kecamatan Kuta Selatan, Badung, on Thursday, Oct. 8, 2026, as part of the Bali 2026 disaster-risk-reduction program.
The planting followed a discussion held by the Bali Disaster Risk Reduction Forum during the province’s Disaster Risk Reduction Month activities. It was conducted through Gerakan Bali Menanam, a planting movement, and focused on the coastal area of Pulau Pudut.
Mangroves strengthen coastal protection in Tanjung Benoa
The activity was presented as both environmental conservation and disaster mitigation. Mangroves help protect coastal ecosystems and support stronger surroundings in the face of climate-change impacts and disasters. The report also described the planting as an effort to protect the coast while reducing disaster risk.
Gede Wirawan, chairman of Pramuka Peduli Kwarda Bali and secretary II of the Bali Disaster Risk Reduction Forum, said the organization’s environmental role should be expressed through direct action. He said Pramuka Peduli Kwarda Bali has carried out tree-planting activities, including mangrove planting, in several coastal areas.
For foreign residents and visitors, the event underscores the environmental pressures facing Tanjung Benoa, a coastal area in Badung that is also part of Bali’s visitor economy. The planting does not create a new access rule or visitor requirement. Its stated purpose is to strengthen coastal resilience and preserve the local environment.
The report did not state the number of mangrove seedlings planted or announce a further timetable for the program.
