Gianyar — Dewan Kerajinan Nasional Daerah (Dekranasda) Provinsi Bali held the Dekranasda Bali Fashion Road Show themed “Wastra Hitakara” at Balai Budaya Gianyar on Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2026.

The event brought fashion presentation, traditional Balinese clothing and music by Balinese artists together to promote local designers’ work and strengthen the position of traditional Balinese textiles. It also connected products from Bali’s small and medium industries with audiences in different areas.

Why it matters to Bali’s cultural economy

For visitors and foreign residents, the road show offered a public example of how Bali’s cultural heritage is being presented alongside its creative industries. The event was not limited to a fashion display: it combined traditional textiles, local design, artisans’ products and performing arts in a program intended to preserve customary and cultural wealth while supporting the competitiveness of Balinese textiles.

Balipost reported that the road show was part of the continuing development of two earlier Dekranasda programs, Dekranasda Bali Fashion Week and Dekranasda Bali Fashion Day. The format takes designers’ work and products from Bali’s small and medium industries closer to communities in each area.

The Bali Provincial Government’s 2026 activity calendar also lists the Wastra Hitakara road show at Balai Budaya Gianyar on Oct. 20, following an Oct. 8 event at Gedung Kesenian Gde Manik in Buleleng. The Gianyar program was presented as part of efforts to reinforce Gianyar’s role as a center of art and craft while keeping Balinese cultural heritage visible amid modernization.
