Klungkung — The peak celebration of Abhiseka Ida Dalem Smara Putra XVI took place at the Pelataran Pemedal Agung Kertagosa on Saturday, Oct. 10, 2026, as part of the Klungkung Heritage Festival.
The ceremony began with a procession from Puri Agung Klungkung to Kertagosa. Raja Klungkung XII Ida Dalem Smara Putra and his consort were carried to the Puputan Klungkung Monument to watch a cultural parade before continuing to the Kertagosa courtyard.
The event was attended by Klungkung Regent I Made Satria, Deputy Regent Tjokorda Gde Surya Putra, kings and sultans from across the Nusantara, palace elders and family associations from Bali, and other guests. The ceremony was presented as an effort to preserve the traditional culture of Puri Agung Klungkung and maintain Balinese cultural traditions amid modernization.
Why it matters to visitors
For visitors, the event places Kertagosa within a living cultural setting rather than treating the heritage site only as a historical attraction. The festival linked a royal ceremony, a procession and a cultural parade in central Klungkung, giving tourism a role alongside the preservation of local tradition.
The celebration also brought together royal representatives and cultural figures from different parts of the archipelago. The reports describe the gathering as both an adat and cultural occasion and a meeting framed around Indonesia’s diversity.
