Mangupura — Ngurah Rai International Airport handled 15,5 million passengers and 94 thousand aircraft movements from January through August 2026, while Australian passport holders remained Bali’s largest foreign visitor group, according to reports published in early October.
The airport’s eight-month traffic included 10 million international passengers and 5,5 million domestic passengers. Aircraft movements comprised 52 thousand international and 42 thousand domestic movements. By the end of August, the airport served 65 active routes: 41 international routes operated by 44 airlines and 24 domestic routes operated by 11 airlines.
Immigration data cited in the reports recorded 4,7 million foreign visitors arriving in Bali during the same period. Australia led the listed nationalities, followed by China, India, Britain and South Korea.
Why Ngurah Rai’s figures matter to Bali visitors
The figures show the scale of Bali’s dependence on Ngurah Rai as its principal international gateway. For foreign visitors, the airport’s route network means that arrival options extend across dozens of international and domestic connections, while the passenger and aircraft totals indicate sustained pressure on the island’s main air hub.
The airport data were attributed to Nugroho Jati, general manager of I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport. The foreign-arrival figures were attributed to Ngurah Rai Immigration, the Indonesian immigration office responsible for entry and exit processing at the airport.
Australia’s position as the leading foreign visitor market is part of a wider distribution of arrivals. The reports list China with 418 thousand visitors, India with 363 thousand, Britain with 206 thousand and South Korea with 203 thousand during January through August 2026.
