Singaraja — Strong winds in Tangguwisia, Seririt, on Thursday night damaged three palinggih and parts of a 12-by-9.5-metre house after a broken tree branch fell on buildings at Krisna Eco Village at about 20:00 WITA on Oct. 22.

Gede Suyasa, head of the Buleleng Regional Disaster Management Agency, said the branch struck a sacred structure and the home of Komang Adi Sudarma Yasa. The branch came from a kresek tree with a diameter of about 50 centimetres.

The damage included the wall section of Palinggih Surya Padmasana, three palinggih, a canopy made of gate-like material, a door, roof tiles and a rain gutter. The incident occurred in Desa Tangguwisia, Kecamatan Seririt, Buleleng.

Why the damage matters to residents and visitors

The report shows how severe weather can affect homes and sacred sites in Bali at the same time. For foreign residents and visitors, Krisna Eco Village is a local cultural and built environment whose access and condition may be affected while cleanup and assessment continue. Sacred structures should be treated as active places of worship rather than ordinary tourist facilities.

Team II of the Buleleng Regional Disaster Management Agency’s Rapid Response Team, together with the agency’s emergency and logistics division, went to the site to clear the fallen branch, respond to the damage and conduct a rapid assessment. Officials also recorded the affected buildings and began calculating the losses.

The financial value of the damage had not been determined as of Friday, Oct. 23. The agency said a technical assessment was still needed because the calculation depends on the form and materials of the buildings, particularly the palinggih. Further assessment of the substantially damaged house was also required.
