Denpasar — Bali’s Health Office reported nine positive Influenza A samples from 113 ILI/SARI samples submitted between January and September 2026, according to reports published on Oct. 5 and Oct. 6.

The samples were sent to Indonesia’s national referral laboratory as part of influenza surveillance. Officials said the positive results could not yet be assigned by regency or municipality because only two health facilities in Denpasar had been designated as sentinel surveillance sites.

Why the findings matter to Bali residents and visitors

For foreign residents and visitors, the report indicates that Influenza A was detected through surveillance in Bali, but it does not identify a specific district or municipality where the cases occurred. The Bali Health Office urged residents and tourists not to panic and said people should continue clean and healthy living practices and use masks when necessary.

The office’s disease-prevention and control division said the patients associated with the positive samples had recovered, according to the reports. The surveillance covered cases meeting criteria for influenza-like illness or severe acute respiratory infection.

The findings follow an earlier report on Sept. 29 that recorded six positive Influenza A samples from 105 samples tested during the same January-to-September period. The later reports gave the updated total of 113 samples and nine positive results.

Officials also said national surveillance data for September showed increased influenza activity, with Influenza A reported as the dominant subtype in the cited national assessment. The Bali reports did not assign the nine positive samples by regency or municipality.
