Sanur — A panel at Bali Tech Week on Oct. 19 in Sanur, Denpasar, emphasized policy, digital infrastructure, cybersecurity and digital literacy as conditions for expanding Indonesia’s digital economy.
The change comes as Bali Tech Week brings together technology, investment and policy discussions in a program running from Oct. 19 to Oct. 23, 2026. The event features 13 technology agendas and is intended to attract digital investment while rebuilding confidence in Indonesia’s digital-economy ecosystem.
Panel speakers described regulation as a way to provide certainty for users and technology companies while protecting personal data, electronic systems and the public from misleading information and digital crime. The discussion also linked wider telecommunications access with stronger digital literacy, including the ability to protect personal data, recognize online fraud and use technology responsibly.
Why it matters to foreign residents and visitors
For foreigners living, working or investing in Indonesia, the discussion signals that digital growth will be shaped not only by new technology but also by rules governing online activity and data protection. The practical effect is a policy environment that seeks to make digital services safer and more inclusive while preserving room for innovation and private-sector investment.
Bali Tech Week’s wider program covers connectivity, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, gaming and financial technology. Its agendas include the Digital Economy Policy Forum, Tokocrypto Digital Summit, HUB.ID Summit and other industry events designed to connect investors, technology companies, startups and public institutions.
The Oct. 19 panel was held at Bali Beach Convention Center in Sanur, Denpasar. The event continues through Oct. 23, 2026.
