Tanah Lot Prepares for Year-End Visitor Surge in Tabanan

Tabanan — Tanah Lot management is preparing for a possible increase in visitors during the 2026 year-end holiday period, with efforts focused on cleanliness, facilities, visitor service, security and coordination with relevant parties. The preparations were described by I Wayan Sudiana, the operational manager of Tanah Lot Tourism Attraction, on Sept. 29.

The change comes as the destination in Beraban Village, Kediri District, Tabanan, is recording an average of 2,500 visitors a day. Management expects visits to rise during the Christmas and New Year holiday period, known in Indonesia as Nataru.

Why Tanah Lot’s preparations matter to visitors

For foreign visitors, the announcement means that Tanah Lot is planning for heavier holiday traffic while maintaining the conditions of a site with natural, cultural and spiritual importance. The measures concern the practical visitor experience—cleanliness, facilities, service and security—as well as coordination intended to keep operations orderly as attendance increases.

Tanah Lot is an iconic destination in Tabanan, and the management’s preparations are being made before the year-end holiday period rather than in response to a confirmed attendance figure. The reported increase is therefore a possibility, not a stated forecast with a specific number.

Management said the preparations are intended to ensure that services continue to operate properly if visitor numbers increase. The reports did not state a closure, a new admission rule or a specific date for any further operational change.
